A Retrospective Analysis of White Clover (Trifolium repens L.) Content Fluctuation in Perennial Ryegrass (Lolium perenne L.) Swards under 4 Years of Intensive Rotational Dairy Grazing

چکیده

The objective of this study was to examine fluctuations in white clover (Trifolium repens L.) content perennial ryegrass (Lolium perenne swards within a high nitrogen (250 kg N/ha) input grazing dairy system. data came from larger, overall system experiment which all management and growing condition variables were categorised each year for the 40 paddocks that contained ryegrass-white swards, over four years. Within study, eight cultivars examined, sown individually with two 50:50 mix ‘Chieftain’ ‘Crusader’. To determine associations meteorological patterns rate/direction change, separate generalised linear models used analyse individual or variable. Paddocks contents associated lower pre- post-grazing sward heights, pasture cover winter period shorter over-winter period. Perennial height, pre-grazing mass yield removed, retained more their swards. Soil fertility remained key factor affected persistence influencing degree responses treatments, particularly soil phosphorus (P) levels. Beyond this, higher rates decline received rainfall, had moisture deficits radiation into base sward, around time grazing.

The physical digestion of perennial ryegrass (Lolium perenne) and white clover (Trifolium repens) in the foregut of sheep.

Sheep were fed once daily with 300 or 600 g dried perennial ryegrass (Lolium perenne) or white clover (Trifolium repens). Total rumen contents were sampled once daily at various intervals up to 24 h after feeding for 6 d. Total weight of fresh rumen contents and dry matter (DM), organic matter and particulate matter concentrations were measured and the particle size distribution of rumen conten...

Effects of water deficit and plant interaction on morphological growth parameters and yield of white clover (Trifolium repens L.) and ryegrass (Lolium perenne L.) mixtures

The effects of soil water deficit and interspecific plant interaction were studied on the dry matter (DM ) yield of white clover and ryegrass and on the morphogenesis of white clover. Plants were grown either: (1) individually (no interaction); or in a mixture of equal plant numbers with either (2) just shoot interaction, or (3) both shoot+root interaction. Plants were subjected to soil water d...

As a preliminary experiment to measuring milksolids (fat plus protein) production of dairy cattle grazing swards containing different levels of white clover (Trifolium repens L.) nine Jersey and nine Friesian cattle housed indoors during late lactation and fed diets containing either 20, 50 or 80% white clover with the balance perennial ryegrass (Lolium perenne L.). During the first 10 day meas...

Complete Chloroplast Genome Sequence of a Major Allogamous Forage Species, Perennial Ryegrass (Lolium perenne L.)

Lolium perenne L. (perennial ryegrass) is globally one of the most important forage and grassland crops. We sequenced the chloroplast (cp) genome of Lolium perenne cultivar Cashel. The L. perenne cp genome is 135 282 bp with a typical quadripartite structure. It contains genes for 76 unique proteins, 30 tRNAs and four rRNAs. As in other grasses, the genes accD, ycf1 and ycf2 are absent. The gen...
